Deregistering a Company from the Compensation Fund typically involves specific steps that can vary depending on the reason. This a very long process and there is no guaranteed timeframe. The most common reason for de-registration at the Compensation Fund is:

1. Liquidation/Sequestration

2. Ceased Trading/No Employees

3. Amalgamation

4. Sold/Taken Over

5. Deceased

For each of the above reasons, there is a list of specific supporting documents to be submitted with the application for de-registration. The application for de-registration is submitted at the Head Office in Pretoria. All outstanding return of earnings should be up to date at the Compensation Fund prior to the application.

The Compensation Fund will review your application and may request that you provide additional information for clarification. Once the Compensation Fund approves the application for de-registration, the Employer will receive confirmation of thereof. The employer should keep record of the de-registration confirmation.
